When placed side by side they look like faces or a mask. The old saying “Eyes are the doorway to the soul” is present in the piece. The eyes are the reason why I titled the piece \u003cem\u003eEyeways\u003c\/em\u003e. Also, the negative spaces become important positive shapes. The overlay of color gives some of the shapes a feeling of depth. The tones of blue are inspired from the blue feathers found in Africa.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003e—From Brandywine Workshop and Archives records\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e My work is abstractpainted wood or aluminum sculptures that have a strong sense of\u003cbr\u003e life: faces, figures, or animals. My sculptures are very animated and have a feeling of music and dance. It is often said that my work has a strong multicultural feeling and connects especially well with people of color\u003cem\u003e—\u003c\/em\u003eCaribbean, African, Hispanic, Indian, and Asian. All people have a kinship with my work. Each piece is positive, energetic, and is an affirmation or celebration of life.
