Doris Seidler
Arkhalos IX

Doris Seidler's earliest intaglio prints mix Cubism's broken surfaces with Surrealism's dreamy images. As she developed technical proficiency over the course of her long involvement with Stanley William Hayter's Atelier 17, New York City, she came to excel at layering textures to create abstractions, cityscapes, and "moonworlds," the latter of which most piqued her interest. Seidler later shifted her focus to woodcuts.
