From the Artist
Both my ethnic and cultural backgrounds serve as [the]root sourceof my work. The awareness and acceptance of humankind—universal, following life's awesome rhythms with dignity and pain, joy, poverty, and often jubilation—cause me to paint. My primary need is to show my "gut reaction" to our efforts to cope with the cycles of life and death—theaesthetic results of attempting to communicate these universal concepts [are]to me almost coincidental.
