From the Artist
This was my first experience. I choose to make an original image for the print so it would have maximum interest and minimum expectations. I attempted to achieve similar effects in the drawing process as in my current work, I planned for the print to be part of my current work, not separate.
The process was slow in the beginning but soon began to reveal much about the image as we worked, and I began to understand what was to come.
The process was helpful to me in thinking about color and the layering of it to get a more resonant feeling.
The image was new in that it incorporated magic and mystery and suggested the relationship between man and animal. The image draws no conclusion — only suggests relationship.
While working on this print, I was motivated to incorporate some of the image ideas into my paintings in my studio. In total, the entire process was rich with learning, and I look forward tothis type of opportunity again.
