Seeking Softer Light is a print whose theme relates to a body of work entitled Shield of the Nile.This "shield" series is the exploration of the figure/figures in water. Water is the healing agent, the means of sanctification and purification. In the print water dominates the environment and the figures play, reflect and are joyous. They are controlled by the water's movement, force and element of time. The water is a sanctuary and removes the figures from the perils of land. Although the waters offer different perils the healing is taking place.

My current paintings explore iconography arrived at over the last 15 years. In these works, figurative elements have moved from scenic member to central theme. These paintings underscore my desire to have color approximate sound. Music is an essential participant in my palette and directs the interplay of images and color. The figurative environment of landscape, seascape, and interior are composed to intensify the relationship between the work and the viewer. My icons have evolved as water, wave, cloud, mountain, tree, pyramid, star, horse, flower, hand, fish, shield, boat, farmhouse, family, mirror and faceless bather. These images are developed in my paintings, drawings, collages, graphics, box works and fabric designs.
